Dartmouth Steam Railway
The Dartmouth Steam Railway runs from Paignton to Kinswear daily from February to November with ticket prices starting from £10.
This traditional steam train takes in spectacular scenery on its journey, including seven miles of stunning coast and the beautiful River Dart.
There are three full days out available incorporating the steam railway;
The Sea Train- This journey involves a boat trip across Torbay, around the nature reserve, ‘Berry Head’ at Brixham and on to the historic town of Dartmouth, where one has time to go ashore to take in its olde worlde charm and unique shops. Then it’s a short ferry crossing to Kingswear and a thirty minute ride on the steam train back to Paignton.
Round Robin Torquay- This is a combined ticket allowing one to make a circular journey. Firstly a bus to Paignton, take the steam train to Kingswear, the ferry to Dartmouth then a river cruise to Totnes, and a return bus to Torquay.
Steam and Cruise- Travel by bus to Paignton, then board the steam train to Kingswear. A quick ferry crossing to Dartmouth, then it’s time for a circular river cruise (lasting for approximately one hour), then return via steam train from Kingswear and a bus back to Torquay.
Dogs are accepted on all trips for an additional £1 charge.
Prices, times and tickets are all available from the Visitor Information Centre in Torquay.
These are wonderful days out for all ages and abilities and a great way to take in the surrounding area.
