Featured many times on the TV, Paignton Zoo is a great day out for the whole family. With a strong emphasis on conservation and environmental issues, this zoo allows you to see a wide range of animals in their natural habitat.

National Marine Aquarium

If you want to get up close and personal with nearly 400 species of sea life, then the National Marine Aquarium is definitely worth a visit. Featuring 3 massive tanks and realistic habitats, this is easily a place you could spend all day in and still not see everything it has to offer.

Kent’s Cavern

A short walk from The Hotel Balmoral, Kent’s Cavern will amaze and delight, as you lose yourself in the prehistoric caves that have been confirmed as the oldest human dwelling in Britain. History buffs will be in their element.

Steam Railway

One of the most popular attractions in Torquay and South Devon is the famous steam railway. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the views, as you are taken through wooded valleys and viaducts before finishing up the journey at the lovely little town of Dartmouth. A perfect day out.

For those people that want a little bit more adventure, Dartmoor National Park is a 30 minute drive from The Hotel Balmoral. Once there, you will find hidden villages that most tourists don’t even know about, as well as leisurely river walks and stunning scenery.

Babbacombe Model Village

Another of the attractions in Torquay Devon is the Babbacombe Model Village, which is within walking distance of The Hotel Balmoral. This is a special place to visit at any time of the day, but it becomes extra special during the evening, as the entire village is completely illuminated.

Temporary Closure until 22nd May – COVID 19 

In line with government advice about avoiding non-essential travel, and the continued risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus we have extended our temporary closure until the 22nd May inclusive

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take advice from the appropriate authorities, and we will only reopen when it is clear that it is safe to do so. If this means that we have to extend the closure beyond 22nd May, we will ensure we update this page.

What this means is that we will now have to defer all bookings for anyone who was planning to visit us during the temporary closure period.

Rebook for a future date: We very much look forward to the day when all of this is over and we can welcome you back to the Balmoral – With this in mind, we are looking upon this as a postponement, not a cancellation.

 We very much hope you will want to postpone your holiday and rearrange it for a later date. You can therefore move your booking to any available date this year, we will retain your deposit to be used against this amended booking.  Please check our website for various deals and offers we have running we may be able to move your booking to the same or similar offer.

If you elect to move your booking to a date with a different seasonal rate, we will need to charge you the new rate, which may be higher or lower, depending on which season you choose.

If you have booked with a voucher then we can move your booking to another off-peak period – which will now be the Autumn. (October onwards)
