BrixFest is a gold award winning, free family festival held in Brixham annually, with live music, fireworks, children’s activities, cooking demonstrations, heritage craft demos and this year for the first time ever – DragonBoat racing! The festival attracts thousands of visitors and locals alike each year and celebrates Brixham, past and present, and employs countless local artists, musicians and street performers. BrixFest is organised by a small but dedicated committee made up of local business people, young people and other volunteers who strive to show off this beautiful town and provide a boost to the local economy, as well as giving back to the community.
Brixham boasts a tight knit community, supporting numerous festivals and events over the year: and BrixFest is a product of local businesses and members of the community pulling together to create something special, thereby preserving existing traditions and creating new ones.
BrixFest began at the end of 2011 when the Brixham Heritage Festival ceased to exist. A small group of local business people gathered together to re-vamp and re-energise an otherwise dying event, rebranding and renaming – BrixFest.
For the first time EVER, BrixFest is bringing a DragonBoat challenge to shores of Breakwater Beach, encouraging local people to take up the opportunity to raise money for their charity of choice.
